What is Anxiety ??


Anxiety is your body’s natural response to stress. It’s a feeling of fear or apprehension about what’s to come. But if your feelings of anxiety are extreme, last for at least 6 months, and are interfering with your life, you may have an anxiety disorder.

I am Dr. Upasana Chaddha Vij. With over 12 years of experience in psychology and mental health, I have empowered more than 1500 clients to overcome their struggles. As a doctorate holder from Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi, I specialize in addressing stress, anxiety, depression, and relationship conflicts. By conducting personalized counseling sessions, I assist individuals in navigating complex trauma. My commitment extends globally, as I provide in-person and online counseling to clients spanning from New York to Australia and everywhere in between. Through media appearances and expert contributions, including the BBC Work Life India and India Today, I advocate for tailored education and the well-being of young children. Additionally, I conduct training sessions and stress management workshops, empowering schools, colleges, organizations, and mental health professionals alike. Equipped with research expertise and certified as a clinical hypnotherapist, my purpose is to guide individuals towards a life of fulfillment, where challenges become stepping stones to success.

What is the purpose of an anxiety support group?

The purpose of an anxiety support group is to connect individuals who struggle with anxiety in a community setting, that allows them to share experiences, struggles, and coping mechanisms and fosters relationship development between members. The aim of these groups is to reduce the feeling of the loneliness and isolationism many feel when they are dealing with anxiety.

Who are the people who facilitate the meeting?

Our groups are led by Dr Upasana Chaddha Vij. Dr Upasana Chaddha Vij is a senior counseling psychologist with more than twelve years of experience in coaching, counseling, mentoring and academics. She uses an eclectic approach in therapy and uses CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy , Schema Therapy.

What are the terms and conditions for joining the support group?

Before beginning the session, all policies relating to rules and decorum of the group will be duly explained and expected from the participants, for strict adherence. Is an anxiety support group right for me?

Anyone who experiences symptoms of anxiety and feels alone in their experience may benefit from joining Mindscape’s Anxiety Support Group. Our support group can be especially helpful to those who may require feel that they can’t start therapy due to any reason, or for those who may require extra care in addition to therapy and other forms of treatment.

Will group information be kept confidential?

Group members and your facilitator will keep all conversations, observations and interactions private and confidential. If you want to talk about group experiences to others outside of the group, we ask that you focus just on your experiences. Don’t tell others’ stories, even in an anonymous way. If you have additional questions about confidentiality, feel free to ask us during your initial sessions.

What am I going to get out of this?

Support group members report that they feel heard, understood, more in control, and a feeling that you’ve got people rooting for you.
By talking about your emotions and what’s going on in your life, you’ll realize that you’re not alone and get ideas for how to improve your situation.

Is support a substitute for professional therapy?

Nope. Support group isn’t a substitute for therapy and isn’t treatment for clinical mental health challenges.
Mindscape’s Anxiety Support Group is for people who are thriving in many aspects of their lives, but who feel that sometimes their overthink and fears of uncertainty take control of their lives.
However, for people currently engaged in individual therapy, our support group can be complementary, a place to practice new skills and learnings.
